When the St. Louis Cardinals traded pitcher Sonny Gray to the Boston Red Sox, it signaled some potential changes coming this winter. President of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom, appears to be headed for a rebuild with the Cardinals.
In fact, he drafted or signed several of the Red Sox top prospects and young players including Mayer, Campbell and the uber-talented Roman Anthony. While Anthony will be off-limits in any trade talks, perhaps Bloom could find a way to get Mayer, who he drafted with the No. 4 pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.

Now, we can't guarantee that Garcia will choose the Cardinals, but he's the type of player that Bloom might covet on the free agent market.
