By Sudarshan Varadhan, Kate Abnett and William James BELEM, Brazil (Reuters) -The host of the COP30 climate summit in Brazil urged countries to unite for a deal on Friday as a showdown loomed in the summit's final hours over whether the accord should set the world on a clearer path away from fossil fuels.

Brazil offered several texts on Friday morning for this year’s last day of the UN climate talks but what was supposed to be nearly final proposals on key contentious issues failed to explicitly mention fossil fuels — the cause of global warming.
