After laying dormant for 12,000 years, the Hayli Gubbi volcano in northeastern Ethiopia erupted on Sunday (November 23).

A massive cloud of volcanic ash from Ethiopia drifted over parts of India late Monday, raising concerns about air quality, weather changes, and flight safety across several northern states.

With a speed of around 100-120 km/h at high altitude, the plume of ash reached Delhi, and then drifted over Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Haryana.
