SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Laval Rocket defenseman Adam Engström has been selected as the Howies Hockey Tape/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending 3, 2025.

We knew it was a possibility, but now it’s official. Just before hitting the road, the Canadiens announced that Joshua Roy would not be staying up there. He was traded to the Laval Rocket at the last minute.

The Belleville Senators finished up their back-to-back matchup against the Laval Rocket, losing 7-2. The passion from last night’s overtime finish carried over, as the Rocket’s teddy bear toss began early at Place Bell.

On defence, the most intriguing name in Laval is Adam Engström, who has put up three goals and five assists in 16 games, leading all Rocket defencemen in points. BROSSARD – The Canadiens announced on Friday that forward Florian Xhekaj has been recalled from the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League. This is a first call-up to the Canadiens for Xhekaj. The 21-year-old forward has suited up for 16 games with Laval so far in 2025-26, amassing four points (2G, 2A) and 44 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 204-pound centre should add some much-needed sandpaper to Habs after getting run over by Tom Wilson and Washington Capitals.
