Some GOP senators defend Kelly amid ‘illegal orders’ video probe
WASHINGTON ( NewsNation) — Republican Sens. John Curtis, Utah, and Lisa Murkowski, Alaska, backed fellow Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., amid a Pentagon probe into “serious allegations of misconduct” against the senator after he and five other Democratic lawmakers told service members to disobey illegal orders from the Trump administration.
A group of Democrats released a video telling service members they can refuse unlawful orders. Trump called it "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!!"
The Pentagon said Monday that it is investigating Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, a retired US Navy captain, in light of “serious allegations of misconduct” the department has received against him, and could even recall him to active duty to face a court martial or administrative punishment.
Jacob Thomas, an Air Force Veteran with progressive veterans advocacy group Common Defense, said he was “appalled” by the Pentagon’s announcement of the Kelly investigation.
