Crews Continue Battling Electrical Fire on Container Ship in San Pedro
The electrical fire onboard the container ship One Henry Hudson in the Port of Los Angeles has been substantially contained while efforts continue Sunday to fully extinguish the blaze, which began more than 30 hours ago,
Authorities have issued a shelter-in-place warning for some San Pedro residents, advising them to stay indoors, turn off air conditioning, and set their cars to recirculate air due to a fire on a container ship at the Port of Los Angeles.
The fire on the ship One Henry Hudson was first reported shortly before 6:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The 1,102-foot-long (336-meter-long) vessel is operated by One Ocean Express, a shipping company headquartered in Singapore. Before Los Angeles, the ship had most recently been in Japan, stopping in Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo.
