Axios Visuals Hurricane Erin's threats prompted North Carolina's governor to declare a state of emergency as the massive storm began bringing huge swells that were impacting the N.C. Outer Banks on Tuesday.

Despite changes in intensity, Erin’s size will drive dangerous surf and massive seas along much of the United States East Coast, as well as Atlantic Canada and Bermuda waters.

Thousands of people are without power in Puerto Rico as Hurricane Erin batters the Caribbean. The storm is expected to bring rough conditions along the East Coast. CBS News New York's Ali Bauman reports.
