Microsoft announced it will open source the JavaScript engine for the new Edge web browser released with Windows 10.
On January 13, 2016, Microsoft made good its December 2015 promise to open source ChakraCore, the Microsoft Edge JavaScript engine. And, believe it or not, Microsoft will also port it to Linux.
Microsoft has released the JavaScript code for its new Edge browser for Windows 10, and is even planning to port it to Linux.
Today, it’s taking that one leap further and open sourcing ChakraCore, the JavaScript engine behind the new Edge browser included with Windows 10.
