A humanoid robot has reached new depths of the uncanny valley with its smooth, humanlike movements. Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, Xpeng, revealed its latest robot dubbed the Xpeng IRON, at an event last week.

According to the company, the robot has 82 degrees of freedom, which enable smooth, flexible movements, and is powered by three custom AI chips that offer up to 3000 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of computing power, making it one of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots.

Once again, with its metal innards exposed, Iron walked across the stage in a very human-like way. It’s an extraordinary sight, and anyone with a nervous disposition may shudder at the spectacle of the bipedal bot strolling along in such a realistic way.
