Microsoft is adding the Python programming language to Microsoft Excel, allowing users to create powerful functions for analyzing and manipulating data.

It will be interesting to see how Python’s integration into Excel works out. It’s a very specialized, cloud-hosted, and seemingly containerized and secured code offering.

Microsoft is integrating Python into its Excel app. A public preview is available for Microsoft 365 subscribers now and all the Python code runs on the Microsoft Cloud.

“While in Preview, Python in Excel will be included with your Microsoft 365 subscription,” said Microsoft. “After the Preview, some functionality will be restricted without a paid license.
