A winter storm warning has been issued for much of eastern Minnesota, while a blizzard warning is in effect for portions of central and southern Minnesota.

A powerful winter storm is slamming Minnesota on Sunday, with upwards of 10 inches of snow possible in the Twin Cities while winds gusting over 50 mph create dangerous blizzard conditions around the state.

We are tracking a blizzard warning that is in effect in western Minnesota. A powerful winter storm is peaking as it moves east, battering the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast with blizzard conditions, damaging ice, widespread power outages and major travel disruptions.

West central, central, southwest, and southern Minnesota, including the Alexandria and Willmar areas, are experiencing blizzard conditions, including significant snowfall and high winds, through the remainder of Sunday and into early Monday.

Blizzard conditions across southeast Minnesota are set to last until 9 a.m. on Monday, December 29th, making for a difficult morning commute.

Travel still isn't possible on Interstate 35 near Albert Lea, as high winds continue to blow snow across southern Minnesota. As of Monday morning, the highway remain closed in both directions from the I-35/I-90 interchange, near Albert Lea Municipal Airport, all the way to Ames, Iowa.
