Snow weather is coming this New Year's Eve! Expect several inches of snow across north central Ohio over the coming days.
At 2:13 a.m. EST on Friday, the National Weather Service released an updated winter weather advisory in effect until 11 a.m. EST for Alger, Luce and Schoolcraft counties.
The advisory was for Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon, Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon, Foothills of the Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon and North Central Oregon.
At 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory in effect until 7 p.m. for Warren and McKean counties.
On Thursday at 4:52 p.m. EST an updated winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service in effect until Friday at 7 a.m. EST for Chippewa County.
NOAA is using those traditional forecasting models as frameworks for its new AI forecasting systems. The agency has estimated that the AI programs will require between 91% and 99% less computing resources than traditional models, while at the same time extending the life of a particular forecast, potentially by as much as 18 or 24 hours.
The National Weather Service confirmed a 6.5 magnitude earthquake, as reports indicated the tremor struck a heavily populated area with impacts, including landslides, still being assessed.
