The draw for FIFA's new play-off tournament has been made, featuring six teams vying for two qualification places

The teams come from each of the confederations, bar UEFA, with the two highest-ranked nations in the FIFA world rankings – DR Congo and Iraq – receiving byes to the final. The other four will slug it out in one-legged semi-final ties to determine the final match-ups. The winners of the two finals reach the World Cup.

In the absence of William Troost-Ekong, Ndidi captained Nigeria against Gabon but will not get the chance to do so again in Sunday’s play-off final.
