On the last day of the Open, an intern fell from a motorized cart and later died from his injuries, according to tournament officials.
After battling back, Swiatek walked over to her bench and looked to cool down amid the heat in Cincinnati and asked a camera operator to step back as she prepared to change on court.
The 2025 Cincinnati Open has been expanded to include more players — and therefore last longer — this year. The tournament will now run for two weeks, beginning on August 7, with the finals landing on a Monday (August 18). The men's final on Aug. 18 begins at 3 p.m. ET and the women's final will take place after that, no earlier than 6 p.m. ET.
The intern who died after falling from a cart was about to start his senior year at college and had an "empathic streak a mile wide," his pastor said.
