Jalen Hurts says offense is ‘building’ as a training camp with moving parts and injuries ends
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith missed time in Eagles camp, leaving Hurts to work more with other receivers. The offense hasn't looked great, but Hurts says it's part of the process.
The team released an injury report showing that left tackle Jordan Mailata is out with a concussion and that wide receiver DeVonta Smith will be held out due to a groin injury. That leaves the Eagles without both their starting wideouts as A.J. Brown remains sidelined with a hamstring issue.
Hurts’ most impressive throw was the ball he fit between Jihaad Campbell and Quinyon Mitchell to give Darius Cooper a chance to make a leaping grab in traffic for a first down. After that rep, a smiling Hurts dapped Cooper up and jogged to the sideline with him.
Metchie, who was acquired Sunday from Houston, is close with DeVonta Smith from their time together at Alabama, and also has crossed paths with Jahan Dotson.
While neither Smith nor Brown appear to be dealing with any sort of issue that could threaten their Week 1 availability, the WR tandem figures to be held out of Friday's preseason finale against the Jets if at anything less than 100 percent health.
