According to the Met Office, Storm Erin is likely to affect weather in the UK in the latter part of the month, bringing intense winds and heavy rain.

Storm Erin caused a state of emergency to be declared on the islands of Sao Vicente and Santo Antao in Cape Verde, off the west coast of Africa.

The major category 3 hurricane is forecast to remain out in the Atlantic Ocean, then the remnants could be seen in the UK by late Sunday - bringing big waves to the country's east coast.
