A fire alarm at Fenway Park caused the Red Sox game against the Orioles to be briefly delayed in the top of the eighth inning on Tuesday night. Dylan Beavers was at the plate for the Orioles with the Red Sox trailing 3-1 when the alarms started blaring inside the famed Boston ballpark and the umpires paused the game.
The Red Sox went into the ninth with a 3-2 lead, but Miami stormed back to earn a 5-3 win and avoid a sweep at Fenway Park.
Ahead of the series finale at Fenway Park on Tuesday, interim manager Tony Mansolino fielded a question from a reporter about his rotation’s recent success. “Pitching wins \[games\],” Mansolino said.
The Sox kicked off a five-game homestand with a walkoff win Friday night, pushing them to 23-5 in Boston since June 10, tied for their best 28-game stretch at home since 2008.
