In the straw poll of writers and editors conducted by The Athletic, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love ascended this week to third place after his 147-yard rushing effort Saturday in the Fighting Irish’s win at Pitt. The Athletic awards three points for a first-place vote, two for second place and one for third place.

Sophomore offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp agreed with Love on the physicality of the Panthers, saying, “I have a lot of respect for them, obviously, and I am excited to play them this Saturday. I think they do a good job of being physical.”

Amid a dominant showing against Syracuse, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love put his name alongside a program great. He tied Jerome Bettis’ single-season touchdown record. Love broke free for a 68-yard touchdown run in the third quarter – his third score of the game – to make it a resounding 56-0 lead over Syracuse.
