But, minutes after the story published, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took to social media to rebut it. “This story is completely made up ,” Leavitt wrote on X. She said that, when the news broke, she happened to be in the middle of an Oval Office meeting with the president and Patel.
The president weighed in on a report that said he was planning to replace his FBI director, while speaking with reporters on Air Force One.
The report claimed that Trump and White House aides have confided to allies that the president is weighing to remove Patel from the top post and considering top FBI official Andrew Bailey as his replacement.
