The fire on the ship One Henry Hudson was first reported shortly before 6:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Authorities have issued a shelter-in-place warning for some San Pedro residents, advising them to stay indoors, turn off air conditioning, and set their cars to recirculate air due to a fire on a container ship at the Port of Los Angeles.

The 1,102-foot-long (336-meter-long) vessel is operated by One Ocean Express, a shipping company headquartered in Singapore. Before Los Angeles, the ship had most recently been in Japan, stopping in Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo.
