Some of the biggest stars in men's and women's tennis will take the court together at the US Open for a reimagined mixed doubles competition.

The thought of the top men’s and women’s singles players teaming up is one that has often intrigued tennis fans around the world.

But they were very critical when a huge overhaul of the event, which now prioritises singles players, was announced earlier this year. In a joint statement, the reigning champions branded it a “profound injustice” and accused organisers of a money grab.
