Rainfall over the weekend helped reduce fire behaviour at Mount Underwood, though the fire is still listed as out of control

Some of the evacuation orders and alerts linked to the Mount Underwood wildfire on Vancouver Island have been lifted or downgraded, as firefighters report minimal behaviour from the blaze.

The mayor of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island says about 50 residents evacuated from their homes due to a nearby wildfire will soon have an update on when they will be able to return.
