Pacific northwest volcano rumbles for 72 hours threatening millions
For three days, a remote volcano off the Pacific Northwest coast has been shaking almost nonstop, a deep rumble beneath the ocean that has ricocheted across social media as a supposed warning shot for millions of people living from Seattle to Portland.
A volcano on Japan’s major western island of Kyushu had multiple eruptions on Sunday, sending a plume of ash almost three miles into the air.
A NASA satellite image shows a volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula that has awoken after more than 400 years of slumber. Krasheninnikova first began spilling lava and spitting up ash on the morning of August 3 2025, according to reports from the Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team.

The U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Japan issued the travel alert on November 20. The Sakurajima volcano "has shown a significant increase in explosive activity since November 16, 2025, with a large eruption sending an ash plume up to 4,400 meters (approx. 14,400 feet)," the alert says.
