Microsoft updated its Python Extension for Visual Studio Code, building out new data science functionality that was introduced in a previous release.

Once you have installed Python and VS Code IDE, all you need to do is create a Python file. To do that, open Visual Studio Code, go to File > New File, search for Python file, and click on it.

VS Code supports code highlighting for Python without this extension. However, if you will be working with Python, you should install this extension.
