Filmmaker Jon M. Chu shares details of rehearing with Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey for Elphaba and Fiyero's big song in the movie musical sequel.
Part one of Wicked left viewers off at the end of what would have been Act 1 of the Broadway musical, where Elphaba sings “Defying Gravity” and escapes Emerald City. Now, part two takes place a few years later,
"Wicked" held strong over the holiday season last year, giving hopes the sequel could do the same and march towards $1 billion.
"That piece of clothing has a note on it," Jon M. Chu reveals of a pivotal moment at the end of the magical musical sequel.
Wicked: Fod Good also stars Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James as Glinda’s fawning assistants, Pfannee and ShenShen; Sharon D. Clarke as the voice of Elphaba’s childhood nanny, Dulcibear; and Colman Domingo as the voice of the Cowardly Lion.
Wicked: For Good” more than doubles the runtime of Act II of the Broadway musical that inspired it and makes big additions to the storyline.
“For Good” doesn’t just continue the story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda’s (Ariana Grande) friendship; it also gives the backstory of Dorothy’s companions: The Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion and The Scarecrow.
