Robert Irwin captured the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in the Dancing with the Stars finale on Tuesday night, scoring 89 of a possible 90 points to win over the judges while winning over the fans with an unbridled positivity reminiscent of his father, the late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin.

The new “DWTS” champ’s famous father died at 44 from a stingray attack while filming a documentary off the coast of Queensland, Australia, on Sept. 4, 2006. Robert was only 2 at the time, and his sister, Bindi Irwin, was 8.
