Valve discounts the Steam Deck for Black Friday, cutting the price enough to make its popular handheld PC more affordable than the original Switch.

There is a fantastic range of games getting discounted, too, including 50% off EA Sports FC 26, 15% off Battlefield 6, a whopping 67% (6 7!) off Risk of Rain 2, 20% off Helldivers 2, 34% off the glorious Blue Prince, and 8% Dead by Daylight.

You can also snag a deal on the base model Steam Deck: The 256GB LCD unit is 20% off during the Black Friday sale, dropping it to $319/£279, which hardware writer Jeremy Laird said in September makes it "a stellar deal for entry-level portable PC gaming."

Gaming handhelds are getting more expensive, but this great one just got more affordable in time for the holidays.

Amazon's Black Friday sale is already underway ahead of the year's biggest shopping day, and you can score some pretty great early deals right now, including a Samsung 1TB microSDXC card for $79.99.

However, while that's still nowhere near being released, two things have just won me over. First, Valve has launched its first ever Steam Black Friday sale with quality games for as low as £1 / $1. And second, a 5-star SteamOS gaming handheld many believe is better than the Steam Deck now has a great Black Friday discount.

The 256 GB LCD Steam Deck is reduced to $319.20 at the Steam store, down from its full list price of $399. That makes it less than half the price of the premium 1 TB OLED model, and also $130 less than a Nintendo Switch 2. The offer will be available until Dec. 1.
