Following her 7-5, 6-4 final win over Jasmine Paolini to earn her first Cincinnati Open title on Monday night, the world No. 2 took a private jet along with Carlos Alcaraz to New York to arrive in time for the U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament Tuesday.

Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz underlined their hard court credentials ahead of the US Open with victories over Jasmine Paolini and Jannik Sinner respectively in the women's and men's singles tournaments at the Cincinnati Open.

Iga Swiatek is in New York chasing for the revamped US Open mixed doubles she is playing alongside Casper Ruud. She played the first match of this tournament a day after clinching her second title of the season.

Additionally, Swiatek has become the second player to qualify for the 2025 WTA Finals Riyadh presented by PIF following her run to the final of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open. The only other player to qualify is World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who secured her place in Riyadh in July.

Iga Swiatek shrugged off lingering weariness to partner Casper Ruud to back-to-back victories in the revamped mixed doubles competition at the US Open on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila). Swiatek — who on Monday had battled through a two-hour tussle with Jasmine Paolini to win the Cincinnati Open — looked full of energy as she and Ruud powered into Wednesday’s semifinals.

Sinner retired with apparent illness in the first set of Monday's Cincinnati Open final against Alcaraz after digging a 5-0 deficit. Sinner remained on the court for the trophy ceremony and addressed his condition while speaking with the crowd. He didn't offer specifics, but said that he "didn't feel great."

By beating Rybakina and making the Cincinnati title match, Swiatek improved to 6,753 ranking points in 2025 - the only player with more points is Aryna Sabalenka, who stands at 7,610. After the Pole, Coco Gauff comes at third spot with 4,944 points and the American is the next in line to secure a Riyadh ticket.

Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe defeated Guo Hanyu and Alexandra Panova 6-4, 6-3 in the Cincinnati Open women’s doubles final to claim their first WTA 1000 title as partners.Dabrowski and Routliffe first paired up in Montreal two years ago.
