The electrical fire onboard the container ship One Henry Hudson in the Port of Los Angeles has been substantially contained while efforts continue to fully extinguish the blaze, which began Friday evening, Port of Los Angeles officials said on Sunday.

The 1,102-foot-long (336-meter-long) vessel is operated by One Ocean Express, a shipping company headquartered in Singapore. Before Los Angeles, the ship had most recently been in Japan, stopping in Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo.
Firefighters are battling a blaze involving hazardous materials on a container ship moored at the Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s busiest for maritime trade. An order calling on residents to stay indoors was lifted Saturday morning.
A fire broke out on a container ship in San Pedro Friday prompting a large firefighter response at the dock. The fire was reported around 7:13 p.m. on the container ship “1 Henry Hudson,” according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Fire was visible on several levels of the 1,100-foot vessel as LAFD crews worked to confirm all 23 crew members were accounted for and safely off the ship.
