In a statement, the Leutner family said they are safe and working with local law enforcement after Morgan Geyser cut off her monitoring device.

Morgan Geyser, who nearly stabbed her classmate to death in the 2014 Slender Man case, cut off her bracelet and fled a group home on Saturday.

Leutner survived by crawling to a nearby path where someone saw her and called 911. Both Geyser and Weier were arrested and confessed to trying to kill her. They later claimed that the fictional horror character, the Slender Man, had told them to kill Leutner as his "proxies."

Payton Leutner, who survived a brutal stabbing in 2014, is safe. Authorities are searching for Morgan Geyser, one of her attackers, who escaped from a group home. Geyser was previously released from a psychiatric hospital.
