Cincinnati Reds starting catcher Tyler Stephenson went on the injured list, retroactive to Aug. 17, for a small fracture at the tip of his left thumb.

The Cincinnati Reds' Tyler Stephenson originally hurt the left thumb catching a pitch last week. It was not considered serious enough then for x-rays.

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson was placed on the injured list Wednesday because of a small fracture on the tip of his left thumb, an injury he initially sustained while catching a pitch from hard-throwing right-hander Hunter Greene last week.
