Currently, Ilia Topuria lays claim to the number one spot in the UFC’s rankings, gazumping rival Islam Makahchev with his emphatic knockout of Charles Oliveira earlier this summer. And striking his second Octagon belt with the victory, Spanish force Topuria won lightweight gold, having stopped the who’s who at featherweight to land the belt, too.

Khamzat Chimaev continued his dominance in the UFC, capturing the middleweight belt on Saturday night by defeating Dricus Du Plessis by unanimous decision at UFC 319. With a smile on his face, Chimaev (15-0) shot out of his corner in the first round with a takedown of Du Plessis (23-3) in the opening seconds and had Du Plessis on his back for almost the entire first round.
