The United Nations Security Council voted to adopt President Trump’s peace deal on Monday, and establish an international force to govern and secure the Gaza Strip.
But it remains only a vague nod. It states that if the Palestinian Authority “faithfully” carries out reforms and if Gaza redevelopment advances, “conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he will oppose any attempts to establish a Palestinian state ahead of a U.N. Security Council vote on a U.S.-drafted resolution on Gaza.
