Trump accepts Xi’s invite to Beijing and calls China relations ‘extremely strong’ despite trade war
President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke over the phone on Monday about trade, the Russia-Ukraine war and travel plans.
President Trump said he accepted an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit China in April and invited Xi to the US for a state visit.
The president has spoken with the leaders of both countries as they spar over remarks the Japanese prime minister made about the Beijing-claimed island democracy.
Chinese President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Donald Trump during a phone call on Monday that Taiwan's "return to China" is a key part of the post-war international order, state news agency Xinhua reported.
