China and Russia continue to target Canada for sensitive government and private sector intelligence and high-tech goods and are seeking to gain a strategic foothold in the Arctic, the country’s spy agency head said Thursday.
Canada announced Wednesday it is imposing additional sanctions on Russia, targeting energy revenues, financial networks and military capabilities. The sanctions list 13 individuals and 11 entities, including several involved in developing and deploying Russia's drone program, the Canadian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Canada is not turning away from the United States but is reinforcing the northern shield that protects both continents.
