The movie’s star, Reese Witherspoon, and her Hello Sunshine company are officially developing a Legally Blonde spinoff TV series inspired by the original at Amazon MGM Studios, according to Deadline.

The upcoming prequel series “Elle” will take place before the events of “Legally Blonde,” following Elle Woods on the journey that led her to become a lawyer known for dressing in pink.

She reprised the role of Elle in the 2003 sequel “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.” The original film was also adapted into a musical that opened on Broadway in 2007.

Titled Elle, the production is set to sashay onto screens in summer 2026, and features 24-year-old rising star Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods.
