President Donald Trump’s top negotiator in Ukraine appeared like a deer in headlights discussing what the president had achieved in his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.

Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky have apparently agreed to sit down for a one-on-one meeting within the next two weeks. Friedrich Merz, the German chancellor, told reporters that Putin had agreed to a summit with the Ukrainian leader following a phone call with Donald Trump on Monday.

The Ukrainian president says Monday's talks have been "constructive" as European leaders repeat calls for a ceasefire.
